Sarkodie revealed in a recent interview with Amazon Music's "+44 Podcast" that he almost passed up the chance to remake the late singer's classic hit. "When I got the email, I almost forwarded it because I felt unworthy to lay my vocals next to the legend. "I was extremely critical of myself," he admitted.

“My manager was like, ‘This is a big opportunity.’ But, the artist side of me was thinking more about the art and not the opportunity,” the 37-year-old rapper continued. “When I was listening to [Bob Marley’s vocals], it was a very spiritual moment.”

"Stir It Up" was Bob Marley's first successful single outside of his home country of Jamaica. It was written by the legend in 1967 and was later covered by Johnny Nash on his 1972 album I Can See Clearly Now.
